Meet the Makers, Robbie Lobell and Maryon Attwood, who founded and co-own a woman-owned and operated business called Cook on Clay. Their cookware (flameware) of dishes include casseroles, roasters, bakers, skillets, pots and pans are 100% designed and handmade in their studios on Whidbey Island in the Pacific Northwest.

Cook on Clay flameware cooking pots are made with ”flameproof” clay designed to withstand extreme temperatures. These pots can go directly from the refrigerator to a hot oven and back again without cracking! They are perfect for the grill, and some of the pots are designed specifically for use on the stovetop. All of these pots are built for durability and performance and intended for everyday use.

Continuing a long tradition of American craftsmanship, they meld beauty and utility in every piece to honor the deeply gratifying, universal act of cooking. Most other high-end cookware sold in America is developed by European companies and produced in Asia. Resisting the siren song of foreign manufacturing, we are deeply invested in handmade in America. 

Robbie and Maryon love knowing their pots are well used in kitchens and on tables across America and beyond. They are committed to creating pottery that is beneficial to both the environment and the people who use it. Their patented flameware pottery is 100% environmentally safe and non-toxic.They are also committed to educating young women through their Zakin Apprenticeship Program, named after Robbie’s beloved teacher Mikhail Zakin.
