Meet the Makers Kristen and Joshua Kanter, of JK Homewares located in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.

Joshua and Kristen use their well-seasoned artistic eye, along with locally sourced wood and reclaimed materials, to create one-of-a-kind heirloom quality cheese boards, serving boards, sushi plates, and cutting blocks for the home.

Joshua’s career began building sets for stage, film and television in NYC. In 2004 he and his wife Kristen moved to The Berkshires to continue their business. Kristen studied Forensic Psychology focusing on child abuse prevention until she retired in 2016 to focus on their business.

Committed to sustainability and non-toxic processes, each board is finished using non-toxic custom-made wood oil. The board handles are reclaimed railroad spikes salvaged from the woods surrounding their home.
